Adult swimming lessons in Granada

It is never too late and never too early. There are groups for people who have never swum, for those who swim but are exhausted after 50 metres, and for those chasing faster times. Same pool, same instructor.

Three starting points

Which group fits you

The first thing we do is place you at the right level — not as a label, but because an adult who cannot float learns nothing in a group already swimming sets.

Complete beginners

For anyone afraid of water, who has never swum, or who cannot let go of the side. We start with floating, breathing and getting your feet off the floor in the shallow end, with no stopwatch and no comparisons.

Goal: swim 25 metres unaided and safely.

Technique

For people who swim but tire quickly, sink at the legs, or only ever swim one stroke. We work on side breathing, alignment, catch and kick across all four strokes, with specific corrections.

Goal: swim comfortably and efficiently, not just get there.

Training

For those preparing an open-water swim, a triathlon, or simply wanting faster times. Sets, paces and heart-rate control in a 20-metre pool with lanes.

Goal: progress with structure instead of repeating lengths with no plan.

Age is not the issue

Learning to swim as an adult: what really holds people back

The obstacle is almost never physical. When a 45-year-old starts from zero, what weighs is the fear of looking foolish in front of others. That is exactly why these groups work: everyone is in the same position and nobody is watching.

Four things worth knowing before you start:

  • Breathing comes first. Nobody tires from lack of strength — they tire from not exhaling under water.
  • Floating is a skill, not a gift. It is learned and trained like any other.
  • Progress is slow at first and fast afterwards. The first weeks are hard; from the second month the curve steepens.
  • Equipment helps. Kickboard, pull buoy and fins are not beginner tricks — competition swimmers use them too.

How it works

Joining an adult group

The process

  1. Call or message on WhatsApp at 620 21 66 46 and describe your real level — no embarrassment needed.
  2. We suggest a group and a time slot based on the places free this term.
  3. Register at the ticket desk.
  4. Trial class: if the group is not right, switch at no cost within the first two weeks.

What you need

  • Swimming costume, not loose board shorts: baggy clothing drags and tires you.
  • Swimming cap — compulsory in the pool.
  • Flip-flops for the deck and shower.
  • Goggles, strongly recommended from day one.
  • A water bottle: you dehydrate in water too.

Swimming lengths outside class

Many students combine the weekly lesson with lane-swimming sessions. It is the fastest way to consolidate what you learn — and the cheapest, with a pass.

6,00 €Single swim
4.70 €Per swim with a 10-swim pass
3.40 €Per swim with the 50-swim pass

Lane swimming runs Mon-Fri 09:30-21:30 · Sat 09:00-13:15. Between 16:00 and 18:30 the pool is given over to lessons, so avoid that block if you want to swim lengths.

Frequently asked

Questions from adults starting out

I am over 50 and have never swum. Is it too late?

No. Swimming is one of the sports that adapts best to starting late: there is no joint impact and progress depends on technique, not age. Beginner groups have adults of all ages.

I am embarrassed about not being able to swim in front of others.

That is the most common reason people put it off. Beginner groups are all in the same position and classes are organised by level, not age. Nobody is watching.

How long does it take to learn?

To swim 25 metres safely, most adults need two to three months of weekly classes. After that, technique keeps improving for a long time, as in any sport.

Can I go straight into training if I already swim?

Yes, provided you have technical basics. If you swim but tire quickly or sink at the legs, technique first — going straight to sets cements the errors.

What happens if I miss a class?

Missed classes are not made up unless there is a justified reason. If it is a one-off, tell the instructor and it will be assessed.
